Welcome. Time to start my first WnW. I got it as a present, let it not be in stock ;)
I'm going to do it in this paint scheme.

At the beginning of masking

Now preshading color Humbrol 113 and the base color of Humbrol 103, and drying.

Time to think how to make imitations of plywood ?
I took to be the engine, at the beginning of the valve springs.

Are they the kit guns?
Yes, the kit includes guns.

Jacek, lovely work but one thing! Albatros didn't have the cocking handles on the maxims. See Bo's build he has some excellent ref there as to how the cocking mechanism should look. Snipping off the long handle and making a short straight length with a knob on basically.
I love what you are doing otherwise.

Very nice start to WNW adventure. You are on the way to build a lovely Albatros model. I especially admire your work on the engine. Lukasz Laskowski from Taurus will be unhappy, if everybody scratch builds the elements which he offers in his resin detailing sets ;)

Jacek, this box is a barograph, recording the changes of air pressure.

Thank you for the information.
I have another question, whether barograph mounted on each plane ?

As far as I know it was optional.

It seems as though you haven't painted the rear cockpit bulkhead that the seat fits in to, it should be painted 'Clear Doped Linen' in colour, because it is visible when the cockpit is closed, I hope this helps.

Jacek,
Looking really good so far. Your pre-shading will pleasantly surprise you if you apply very light coats of the final finish over top, and stop short of full coverage. Very nice work so far on one, if not my absolute number one favorite subject. Looking forward to following your progress.

Lately I've been very busy working professional and just now saw your relationship with the construction of this beautiful aircraft.
What you you show looks great.

Jacek, in my opinon the shading is too much emphasized. If I were you I would apply some more thin layers of RLM65.

I agree Jacek, another light coat (or two) will do wonders, just take it a very light bit at a time. I use a dark grey normally, spray it exactly as you have, and the light undersides normally need at least two shots, sometimes three of the light blue or CDL.
Cheers,
Lance

Jacku super, :)

Hi Jacek.
About your shading, i must agree with Przemol and lcarroll about giving it a couple more of thin coats.

I painted one coat, a some tone down. I want to leave a little exaggerated. I think the end result will be good :)

so great work Jacek! thanks to prevent me about Nieuport hoods too large.

You are making good progress, Jacek. You are very steady with the
shading on the fuselage. Nice work!

I have tried this invention. The first time I'm doing this so I'm not sure of the effect

It will take a bit of time painting all panels.
-
The woodgrain looks a bit heavy, Jacek. This is just my first impression as
I've never used something like that. How did you find it as far as ease of use goes?
I will be very interested to see when you have the fuselage all done. Do you
put a coating over it when it is applied?
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
It certainly requires some toning down. But IMO a few coats of clear orange should be fine.
-
Pretty cool idea, but to my eye, the grain is too pronounced. I'll be interested in how you complete this aspect.
-
But IMO a few coats of clear orange should be fine.
I think so too.
In the worst case I have to wash the whole fuselage :'(
-
Jacek, keep in mind the wood grain on the panels will always be in the same direction on the D.V -- parallel to the airflow. This is because the plywood was three ply and much easier to bend in one direction hen the other.
Cheers.

Thank you for suggesting.

The stencil is a cool idea. I am interested to see how it looks after your overcoats!

I'm watching the use of the RB Stencils with interest; although I have them I have not yet had the opportunity to try them. Looking good so far!

The fuselage is slowly painted.
I fixed bottom surfaces....

Your shading is great, Jacek! I was wondering if I had to do anything with a
multiple colour camouflage scheme and you answered my questions with your
photos, so thank you so much. Keep up the good work on the Alby. :)

Lovely!

Painted the second color.

Hi Jacek
When I see work of this quality it makes me wish that I was about 30-40 years younger so that I could try and put into practice the great things I see and build the models I'd never previously considered.
Best wishes

The wings look great, Jacek. Good job! I'm anxious to see your

My first "Wooden Wonders" , wish that I would have to cover it with green flecks :'(

I wonder how to impose tiny flecks on the fuselage ::)
-
Jacek, if you want to have green mottling on the fuselage, you could dab it with
a sponge soaked in the proper green paint. Wingnuts website has a tutorial for that exact
thing in the hints and tips section of the instuctions for the Albatros D.V.
Hope that helps. :)
Cheers,
Ernie :)
-
And of course you might be wise enough to test this sponge application on some kind of test fuselage first. Good luck!

The first test, surely .
Another technique is the toothbrush flick method
About this method I have not heard :o
Thank all you for your tips !
-
Toothbrush flick method:
1) Dip old toothbrush in paint
2) move thumb backwards across toothbrush bristles, spraying paint randomly
Obviously, test on scrap to master technique
Cheers
-
I've never used the toothbrush method, Bo. Any tips as to how far from the model
you usually do it? I worry about it looking splattery.
Cheers,
Ernie :)

You simply must experiment as there are many variables including the paint's viscosity, the stiffness of the bristles as well as the effect you are trying to achieve. This technique is often used to simulate mud spatters and so forth...
-
I did test.

1.-Technique Bo
2.-My modification of technique Bo
3.-Sponge
The most suitable to me technique Bo. In my modification is too much of microscopic dots.
Sponge is very difficult to maintain equal emphasis !

I love seeing a well documented experiment! Thanks for posting the results.

Thank you for going to the trouble of setting everything out so well, Jacek.
Very interesting and informative!
Cheers,

Comb = good idea. Nice Jacek.

So that's what people meant when they said 'don't forget our toothbrush' when I was younger!

Thanks, Jacek and Bo for this informative discussion. I have to remember that toothbrush technique, it seems to work perfectly.
BTW, very nice wings shading, Jacek!
-
Nice experimentation..
Although I think it was sponged on the aircraft, so the real thing looks a bit blotchy. It's a very difficult finish to achieve and not look a mess!
I'm sure the neater flicking method will look best on the model..
Good luck!
Guy

very nice wings shading, Jacek!
I am not happy with the shading on the wings :-\
I painted gently brighten color. I think right now it looks a little better.

Well, Jacek. At least in the photos the previous version was much more to my taste. Now it is overdone... But maybe in the reality it is better.

I'll think about it ::) Paint again the main color is not a problem :D

That's looking really nice, Jacek, especially the wood grain on the fuselage. It will nearly be a pity to hide it under green paint. :)

I chose the method no. 1, and so it looks:

It tones down the wood effect nicely too..

jacek,
The Mottle has really turned the dial on this one! Tones down the Wood grain just enough!! Well done!!!
RAGIII

Very very promising. Fine effect, Jacek!
But, again, forgive my being a continuous nuisance... My feeling of this camouflage is a bit different. Looking at the photo from the WNW website (hints and tips section) I tend to see a more pronounced mottle effect. I would add some more green specks.
-
Very nicely done Jacek, the mottle effect has been well executed, could be a little more pronounced but it does look fine the way it is.

Jacek, I think if you are out to duplicate the Wingnuts depiction, it could be a little
more motley. However if you are happy with your efforts, that is what counts. I tend
to think you have it pretty well done. Good work, my friend!

Test piecing on "dryly". My impression is that the engine cover sheet will not really want fit in ???

You are making great progress, Jacek.

Is the engine cover too thick?
Fact that a little too thick, but also are based too tightly on the engine.

This is a prototype of what you think about it?
I have one more question, how long have turnbuckles GasPatch ?
-
Very nice turnbuckles, Jacek. I took a quick measurement of a Gaspatch
turnbuckle and it showed about 8mm. Hope that helps!
Cheers,
Ernie :)

I think you`ve just turned out to be the turnbuckle master! It looks great indeed, and I think you should put it into the mass production.

Very fine turnbuckle! Quite convincing, congratulations!

Very nice work on the Turnbuckle! Keep em coming!!
