thanks Ernie and Des.

I"m surprise myself about the aspect of the plane. He (do you say "he" or "she" or "it" about airplane?) look very used, and this way of weathering don't seem usual in modelworks. in fact Roden kit doesn't invite to do something clean and new, plastic engraving is not very precise, with flat relief, needing to shade more with paint.
so it's going this way, with dirt and used aspect! i have to equalize paint when body and wings will be assembly together.
other reason is i only use paint brush and spray, haven't airbrush!

Great work, Quentin.  She's coming together very nicely.
Cheers,
Bud

thanks Bud

For my friend Ernie, i start a quick tutorial about figure painting, as i use to practice (anyone can complete and comment)

first step is to cement figure on a round support, to be confortable to take it for paint.

first step painting is to shade with a dark color coat. i prefer use the dark tint of the major color i'll apply after, it's better than all black, black isn't a natural color!
so i painted dark blue for uniform, dark brown for face and black for gaiters.

these coats permit also to better see engraving.

next steps soon!

Thank you for the information on the figure painting, Francois.  Very much appreciated,
and very helpful!  I'll be looking forward to more updates.  As for aeroplanes, I tend to
refer to them as "she" as I would a ship.  Thanks again, my friend.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

I love the prop too, Dave, and I would love to take credit, but it's Quentin's
amazing handiwork, not mine. ;)

Cheers,
Ernie :)

thanks all for supports! i need it to continue, low wings are too heavy for the small bindings of the kit.
i applied decals, not very dense, and adjust weathering of wings and body.

the scheme is Caporal Six 159 squadron, who landed in ennemy lines and have been captured!
not very kind from Roden to choose this special one, so many others more glorious and nice exist, as the Nungesser  Ni 24 bis.

at least i painted the rudder with Humbrol blue 109

Vickers is ready to shoot!

Nicely done, Francois!  The blue on the rudder looks to be close to a perfect
match for the decals.  You're right...funny they picked a captured aeroplane. ;)
Looking forward to the next update. :)

Excellent recovery on the rudder, Quentin.  Your choice of color is better than Roden's.
Cheers,
Bud
