Quentin,
Very nice start; the wood effect on the prop is incredibly well done. Enjoy your first WW One Build, I'm sure there will be many more!
Cheers,
Lance

I did this model.
Engine cover will need a lot of grind !
Earn some extra air intakes for the engine.
Have fun!
Jacek.

thanks all!

Sure i believe there will be many more!

Jacek, you mean engine cover is too thick?
I saw on pictures others air intakes, in left side for example (visible in box art)
let me know where exactly.
Thank for help!

Hello, Quentin -

I have this kit in my stash so will follow with interest.

Great work so far - love the wood effect on the prop.  Good luck with the rest of the build.

Regards

Dave

Wonderful work on the engine and prop, Quentin.  Be careful on the seat. If you try to shape it without doing the following, it will crack.  Before bending it to shape, sand it down a little thinner.  Then, soak it in boiling water, pull it out and immediately bend it around a dowel or pen or any cylinder of the correct size.
Can't wait to see your next update.
Cheers,
Bud

Great work, Quentin!  Excellent job on the propeller.  Together with the
engine, you've made a super start.  Thanks for sharing your work.

Best Regards,
Ernie :)

I knew i should use carefully and get warm... but i wanted to go fast...

this is the Toms modelworks PE:

I also start to paint masts, but need to be shade off, and i'll put Bare Metal for the clamps

A great start with the engine and propeller Quentin, the wood on the propeller is excellent, the struts also look good, this will be a really good build to watch.

Hi Quentin!  I am currently building the Roden Ni 27, which is essentially the same kit, so I will be watching your build with interest, as we are at about the same stage.

My kit seat broke also, so I made a new one from ten thou sheet styrene. The Tom's seat should work well also.

Your struts look great!  My only suggestion is perhaps replacing the tiny locating nubs with brass wire. I did this, and it's a little tricky, but makes for easier and stronger upper wing attachment.  I did not do this on the Roden Albatros DIII, and it was a real adventure getting the top wing in place. The plastic nubs just do not provide enough positive fit to secure the top wing.

I'm also interesting in how folks attach the lower wings to the fuselage. From Jacek's photo, it looks like he used a brass tube insert to accept brass rod pins placed in the wings. How is proper dihedral established in that method? I'm leaning towards using a brass spar through the lower fuselage with holes drilled in the wings. This approach has its own problems, including getting the dihedral right.  Has anyone just used the plastic nubs and glue?

Sorry for the mild thread hijack, but it does all relate to this kit and build. :D

Regards,

Bob

thanks Bob, as you im not confident with nubs, in all the kit in fact! need something stronger.
I can't answer for lower wings attach... Perhaps Jacek will explain us how i did...

others pictures soon, i really enjoy the building!

Original wing very poorly to hold the fuselage.
I did it like this:
