Actually, I've just seen examples on Amazon.

Very nice.

I have 8 now and each is very informative. If you still want some pics then let me know. I got mine from Amazon. As I slowly build up my WWI library I will probably try and get the whole series.

Mitre Cutting Vise Jig for my photo etch.

This little bastard is so tight, the edges cut my fingers today.

Done!

It's yours, your favourite Unicorn won't charge you.  Consider the nasty little Mitre Cutting Vise Jig (with the sharp edges) a reward for your lovely Albatros build log; what fun!

Merry Christmas  ;D

Is that home built or where can someone buy one? If its home built how much would you want for the plans? I might be able to get my metal basher son to make one when he gets back to the metal shop.

Hey James & Terri & Von Bendy

I agree the vise is a lovely piece of kit.  There's a lot of precise P.E. for bending in the Weiner Modelbau Daimler Aero Engine kit.  I couldn't resist this little tool when I found it.

I didn't make it, you have to start shopping for tools at your local Jewellers Suppliers.  I reckon good tools are important for modelling; jewellers have great tools and most are Swiss made.  It's top quality stuff and not expensive, give me a couple of days and I'll show you a photo of the little Glardon Vallorbe needle file that just made 200 spoked wheels in Sterling.

That's pretty good steel.

Don't muck around with bad tools, get some kit that will last you a modelling lifetime.

Speedily arrived this morning, feeding my excitement about the Felixstowe, GE Livock's 'To the Ends of the Air'.
There were a good number of cheap second hand copies knocking about on Amazon.

Looks highly readable, with plenty of laconic humour about all the hairy flying. There are twenty pages or so about his time at the Yarmouth station.
He was clearly very fond of N4283 - the particular machine I want to build - and there are some nice pictures, including one of that aircraft (from the port side; the starboard side dazzle scheme remains a matter of speculation :) ).

Thanks! I'm not sure mine will be one of the early builds, though, it definitely has the look of something I will have to gear up for ;)
Eg. I want to practise water effects on something else first.
Also have to save up for a decent display case!

I wonder who will be first out of the traps with a build???

A good question. It will be fun to see the almost exponential growth of detail from build to build. That is just one aspect of building these WNW planes: they are so well engineered that it becomes almost a challenge NOT to try to keep adding detail bits.
Each build pushes someone else to add a new level of detail.
