It's always encouraging to see a modeller develop their hobby into a cottage business and in the field of aircraft decals, several people have done this.
One who has caught our attention is Simon Hutton of New Zealand who has launched
KMNZ Decals & Diorama Accessories. Simon is running this venture through his Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/KMNZdecals/ and is offering a range of wood effect and linen effect decal sheets in 1/32 scale. If things go well he has plans for 1/48 sheets later.
The A5 size sheets are nicely printed using a high end laser on very thin white decal paper. Samples provided for us to consider included a bleached clear doped linen.
Two linen shades are on offer at present- bleached and regular.
KMNZ ( it stands for Kit Modeller NZ) also offer at present four shades of wood effect decals - plywood,oak, white oak and birchwood(below)
The wood effect is quite well represented and could be effective on WW1 aircraft. The decals work the same way as regular waterslide decals and respond well to the usual setting solutions.
The decals are on offer at $NZ20 per sheet plus postage at cost or 3 sets for $NZ 50.
