The Fuel Cart

So here it is in its mainly complete form.

1/32 scale WW 1 German airfield fuel cart.

Originally intended for the Gotha dio , however I feel like I have bodged it right from the start.

My apologies to the manufacturer.

The trouble began by not doing a proper inventory of the parts when the kit arrived. There were 2 sprues I was unable to account for  , I ended up making the parts to suit. I then cleaned all the parts and soaked them in IP for the final cleaning. I inadvertently left the parts in the IP bath overnight. This resulted in some of the detail softening and the wheels took on a Dali-esque appearance. I also replaced the supplied hose. I also had to replace the finely cast wheel bands , having been incapable of having them survive the runner removal.
Assy was ok , some diligence is needed for the final assy of the wheels to the cart proper.  The base is sawn from a couple hundred year old red cedar burl. Some embedding work and some Army Painter weeds complete the base . See my Gotha build for further info.

A nice little kit, I tried my best , and made a cool base for it as well. I enter all my work in as many contests as possible , this will be in the fall shows this year and I will update with results.

 And so here it is:

 Thanks for looking!

Artistic and beautifully displayed vignette. Well photographed, too.

Unless I had read your log and notes I would never have guessed that you had to recover so much. If that fails to win medals then I want to know what will!

Thanks for all of your comments.
The model did come in second in an accessory category , good enough for me.
