What a great modeler, mentor and gentleman.  My prayers to his family.  I was always amazed, no matter what thread I was looking at Des had a positive remark to the builder. No matter the scale or the experience level he would weigh in a offer an encouraging comment. Do hope we can keep this form going in his memory and dedication.

Des will be greatly missed by me and so many out there. He was a great inspiration to me and
encouraged me to test my skills and encouraged me to take on new techniques.

All I can say is thank you and farewell.

I am saddened to hear this news.  Des was a true craftsman and he endeavored to pass on his skill and enthusiasm for the hobby  to others.  My condolences to his family.  Please know that his presence in the modeling community will be sorely missed.

I've been on a bit of a modeling hiatus, but checking in here on occasion.  This is such heart-breaking news. Like many of you who came over from the Aerodrome after the debacle, I was so thankful to Des for setting up this refuge and amazing source of knowledge.  A kinder and more supportive space on the web you cannot find.  And Des was always so warm and encouraging. He will be sorely missed.
My thoughts are with his family.

I am so sad to read this.

I have enjoyed this forum so much the last few years - even though I have not had much time for modelling and thus have not contributed much to the forum.

My thoughts are with his family.
