Seaplanes of Bocche by Boris Ciglic. Jeroplan Books
« on: November 11, 2017, 07:48:18 AM »
As a follow up to my build of the Donnet-Leveque, I found this book and ordered a copy. Anyone interested in WWI seaplanes and/or Austro-Hungarian aviation really should get it. It is the story of Austro-Hungarian Naval aviation from the very beginning to just after the war ended. The English translation is not perfect, but it is not bad either, and is very clear. There are plenty of photos, at least one on every one of the 134 pages of the text, and there are extensive Appendices and glossaries, giving details of known personnel, aircraft lost, aerial victories, orders of battle, and some useful comparisons of ranks, and geographical names, along with a glossary of terms and a bibliography. It is rounded off by 8 pages of colour profiles.
I found my copy at the Aviation Megastore, and the postage was almost as much as the book, but it was still well worth it. 10 out of 10 for this one!
