OK Manni, you get the title of the "King of Weathering"!! I thought I had a pretty good palate of weathering and aging tricks but your bird's nest takes the art to new heights! (the rest is really good too!)  This is a real gem and a joy to follow, realism at it's best.
Cheers,
Lance

Manni, I don't visit as much as I did and pop into threads very rarely so have only just seen your thread here for the first time.

All I can say is you are a very brave (and extremely talented) man. To take such a kit and do what you are doing takes real nerve, phenomenal commitment and extreme confidence. What you've done so far shows you have all that and more.

Truly - a superb piece of work and vision. I look forwards to it's fruition.

Great work Manni - Tug

Hello Manni:

The weathering and aging you have done is truly amazing.  As mentioned, the imagination and creativity and ability to translate that into a weathered model is a work of modeling art.  As Lance mentioned, the birds nest is a nice touch, complete with eggs yet!  Looking forward to seeing what else you can come up with.  An intersting concept for a diorama to say/write the least.

The leaves inside the engine really take this to the next level. This is incredibly well done.

A bitd‘s Nest in an old war machine. That’s poetic, Manni, I really love the idea. I can only echoes all the positive comments above: A truly spectacular build! Wonderful!

As others have written this is truly a work of art: and of the very highest standard. The attention that you give to the tiniest and seemly least significant detail leaves me lost for words.

Wow, I am shaking, your comments are overwhelming! Thank you.
Today I want to introduce a new method (invented by me  8))for a more realistic kind of chipping. I call it " Real chipping"

The method is quiet easy. First you take something elastic like a medical glove and put it over a pot or a glas. Make sure that there is tension in the rubber. Then take the desired colour and paint it with a brush on the rubber material and let it dry for a day.

After drying take the glove off and tear it into different directions. You will see the paint will crack and you will get flakes.

Now you can apply these paint flakes with a wet brush on the desired area of your model (previous moistened with some varnish).

After that you can apply some washings

and add some highlights with a lighter tone to make it more interesting.

Hope you like and try it, may be you can improve it,
Bye,
Manni

Absolutely FANTASTIC idea and perfectly executed, Manni! This is a really convincing method for heavy paint chipping especially on wooden surfaces. I am keen on giving it a try (you make me thinking about building another wrecked machine...)
All the best

Brilliant work Manni. As a true "Master Modeller" once told me, the "best way to replicate a material or effect is to use the real thing". That's amazing work, and I hope you don't mind if I add it to my bag of weathering tricks!?
Cheers,
Lance
