Hello my modeling comrades.
Thank you for your comments, they push me foeward.
I have made some progress,
first I primed the wings and sanded a bit of the white primer to show some stitching and other details.

After that I sprayed the underside with Tamiya deck tan, applied the crosses and mottled an enamel based wash on it.

Next, I put the decals on the wings and sanded them down a bit to simulate the worn effect.

In the next step I made a fading with some oil paint dots and applied different pigments

Now I started to build  some wood walkway from balsa, heavily worked with a steel brush.

First step was to brush it with Tamiya XF19

then a heavy dark wash was applied to the previously ,with white spirit moistured wood.

After one day I drybrushed the whole thing with white

now I applied some nearly dried colours to make it more interesting.

Then I applied some green algae on the wood.

Here are some more pictures of the current status

in the end there will be a tramp sitting on the wing with a fishing rod in his hands.

Hope you enjoy my insanity, but there will come up a lot more gimmiks on and below both wings.
Bye,
Manni

I don't know how to adequately state my amazement at what you have done and are doing! The techniques you are using on the airframe, wood, and everything else are amazing.

wooof, Manni, the weathered wood looks awesome! And the tramp must be much more courageous than many highly decorated generals (who would have expected that... ;)) to take his seat on such a rotten airplane...

Wow!! That looks amazing...its a shame that they let that happen to such a neat airplane. Its like finding a rusted out 1932 roadster in a barn and the farmer will sell it to you for $100.

Lost for words Manni. This is artistry combined with the highest level of modelling skill. If this is insanity, could you please share a little with me?

Stephen.

Wow!  This is an amazing way to portray an aircraft in different circumstances.  Very nice.

I really like what you did with sandpaper on the stitching and raised areas.  Something I might try later.

Love it!

Hi my friends.
Thank you for your welcome comments.
I have made some progress so far. I have started to errect the forgotten abandoned wharf to be able to make the last touches on my Hansa.
Here the different steps and a little tutorial to make poles overgrown with algae and mussles:

The baseplate (40X40 cm/16X16 inch). The poles are just put into place, to proof if everyting looks good. They are attached to the base with blutack.

In the rear area is still a quay wall missing, but that comes later.
The bridge will be made of different balsa wood profiles.
So that the wood grain also corresponds to the old, washed-out and weather-exposed environment, the wood is stressed with a steel brush with shortened bristles and smoothed with steel wool.

The whole thing is worked on until you are satisfied with the result.

Then the wood is painted gray and given a brown washing.

Now I have marked with tape the maximum water level at high tide.

I put classic hot glue one side.

Now I first sprinkle the middle section with sesame seeds and then the upper and lower sections with strained thyme.

Then the growth is brushed nice dark green.

After sufficient drying, the depths are emphasized with a dark wash.

The individual seeds are coarsely colored with a brush and XF17. Here you can still see the dark green, which looks like an algea coating.

The pearly spots are now painted with a very fine brush. For this I use XF2

Now the upper area is treated. Directly above the vegetation the still wet pole is painted with a mixture of dark green and black.
Then comes some AK simey grime to simulate algae growth.
The vegetation can still be emphasized with a bit of light green.

Here and there you can apply previously light green-colored hemp fibers as filamentous algae.

At the end, the lower part is stained with the dark green-black mixture. After this, the pile and the shells are brushed with gloss lacquer.

The next update will take some time, because I want to finish the entire bridge first.
Bye,
Manni

Incredible, Manni! A true masterpiece. And a way to deal with all that healthy food stuff my wife brings home from time to time...

Manni,
That's very impressive work and most informative, those mussels look ready for the pot ....... little touch of garlic, some chopped onion and some white wine........ :P  ;) !!
Seriously this project of yours has turned into a real piece of fine art and your skills at replicating natural objects and effects are remarkable. This is spectacular modelling, keep those updates coming!
Cheers,
Lance
