WMM Austro-Daimler 120PS Engine in 1:16 scale
« on: January 13, 2014, 02:10:55 AM »
Hi everyone,

I've got my hands on the new Austro-Daimler 120PS Aero Engine in 1:16 scale by Wiener Modellbau Manufactur. This beauty of a kit is designed and produced by Peter Plattner. It's a multi-media kit that that contains resin, photo-etch, CNC milled push rods and detail wire.  Here are some pictures............

The engine block.....................

The cylinders...............

The magnetos and mounting fixtures.................

Three different types of exhaust pipes to choose from : long and straight, long and curved, short and curved

More plumbing and detail parts....................

Spark plugs.......................

Rockers and linkages..............

Photo-etch......................

Wire detail.......................

CNC milled push rods.......................

The instructions were provided by PDF.

Here are pictures of the incredibly detailed engine built by Peter Plattner.

As Bo says, very cool, and a great source of reference for those of us working in other scales. Thanks for posting it Mark.

Best wishes
Nigel

No problem guys, this engine was licence build in GB as the 120 HP Beardmore. They look very similar.

Most beautiful kit.

What a stunning addition to a WW1 aircraft collection.  The photos look fantastic, I can't resist this one.

Steve

p.s.  Yup, I was right, couldn't resist and just ordered one, think I've just fallen in love with Wiener Modellbau:-*

 Mark,
That's one awesome engine kit my old friend. I've an older Wiener Modellbau kit of an A/H U-Boat which is a thing to behold and this kit is certainly more of the same. Now let's hope they continue along this line and scale. Who knows maybe WM will produce an aircraft kit to go along with this Gem. Thanks for sharing my old friend.
Highest Regards,
Gregory Jouette

very nice, i saw this on aeroscale a few days ago. very tempting. the copper is quite nice. brass is my holy grail i use either testors copper or flouquil copper. but brass i cant find a model paint that makes me happy i use the liquid leaf type paints from the craft store.

For completeness, also because the pictures are lost, I like to add a link to my completed engine:
