Where did you order yours from Tug if I may ask?

Hi Toby - Ukraine seller on UK Ebay (see link on earlier post)  I see Hannants has it on 'future releases' too but not on pre-order as yet.

There appear to be two ebay sellers: "eugene_lemeshko" and "linsal77"
At first I was disappointed by the limited kit markings options, but then realized that I could model Udet's famous D.VIII 238/18 LO!/Du auch nicht! (Not you either!)  ;)  At the price of these kits, I won't have to feel like I'm "sacrificing" one (as it would be for a WnW kit) just to do a "counterfactual"

Remember this one guys, it is the Avis kit that I built way back in 2011.
Here is a full build log of the model;  http://www.ww1aircraftmodels.com/page21.html

Des.

Lovely model Des and excellent build log.
I got stuck after sealing up fuselage with my Avis kit as I couldn't decide whether to do Osterkamp or Sachsenberg yellow stripes or diamonds. I was going to do the bumble bee but then thought it'd be too much like copying yours!!

One thing for absolute sure, I'm with you on the wing colour, mine'll be olive green. :)
I don't care what colours appear on the factory plans, at this stage in the war, (phony armistice), the draughtsmen could have specified gold plate on the guns, with as much chance of seeing them through to fruition. (But if anybody else wishes to believe they can see psychedelic shades in the grainy old pics, they have every justification to put flowers in their bongs and go for it!) :) :)

Thanks Tug. I'll wait for Hannants then. Might get 10% discount with a pre order as they often offer it.

Also received my Ebay notification it's been dispatched.
Nice to see how a smaller company than, for instance Wingnut Wings, can state a release time frame and then dispatch the kits on time.

Hi all,
I received my kit this morning.
It came in a large 'jiffy' envelope because the kit box wasn't assembled, but laid out flat inside (presumably to cut down on the cost of shipping).  However it was easily reassembled and the model parts were not damaged in any way.
I can't post pictures of the contents as photobucket seems to be down.
However you get:
Instruction sheets and history (with colour schemes Sachsenberg, Osterkamp, Udet and 1924 civil markings.
Decals for national markings/instruments etc, but no aircraft colour scheme decals.
Acetate windscreen.
Masking templates for the civil colour scheme.
Photo-etch seat belts, gun cooling jackets and sights, post was gun decking cover.
8 plastic sprues with all model parts.

I have both the Falcon Vac and Battleaxe kits, and this Mikromir kit seems better quality.  I don't know how much is unchanged from the Avis kit.

Yep, mine too SB.

Same packaging and all fine - well pleased with it.  The 'new' wing looks new compared to the rest of the parts but with minimal engraved lines. Some of the finer parts are a mite agricultural, the struts are very thin so may get replaced with tubing - a bit of flash here and there but overall it has merit and with some TLC here and there has the makings for a fine little project .  I guess a trip to Hannants for some of Richard's lozenge decals is now called for - sooner rather than later :)

I've got the Windsock Data File 25 for this aircraft and it has several colour schemes, including photos of the civil version in the kit.
Drop me a PM if you want any data.

I'll post pictures of the kit contents once photobucket is back online (down for maintenance so Facebook says).

Thanks SB but I'm okay for info.
Have the data file, an old 'Profile' publication and the versions in the Eduard 1/48 kit to choose from. Not sure which I way I shall go as yet but definitely with a lozenge fuselage.

Thanks again, good luck with yours

It is hard to tell for sure but the parts "Look" to be molded a little cleaner than the Avis offering. As for the wing, I can't see any difference in the photo. I guess I will find out when my kit arrives.

What was wrong with the Avis wing? I'm not disputing there was an error with it, I just don't know what it was.

To my knowledge there was nothing "wrong" with the Avis wing, Although it does take a boat load of sanding. It was stated when the Mikro Mir kit was announced that they had a "New" wing molding. So as stated I do not see a difference. No problem from my perspective, just curious.

Im curious with the marking options - is there a profile provided for the decals of "Lo!"? Assuming again that is a "hypothetical" scheme not based on a real photo?
