Greetings all:

Here is my 1/32nd Encore/Roden Albatros DII in Oswald Boelcke's Markings:  I built this about three or four years ago, and really enjoyed the build.  I tried some things that were new to me then that I now employ on a continuing basis.  I made my turnbuckles and cut the sleeves/tubes to secure the rigging.  I used Aeroscale Wood Grain Decals made for the Roden Albatros family.

Below is a link to the build log for the model.

Rick, thanks for the compliments.  Actually it is a conversion using the Paschendale wings and a Glencoe fuselage long before Ed came out with the proper kit, it sat around for years before finally finishing it in 2006 for the IPMS Nats in KC: took some artistic license on the all blue scheme as the photos I had were fuzzy--no camo was evident.

Mark, really like your DII!!

Ed,
Even more deserved now that we know it is that pretty rough Glencoe kit. I had a couple and also the DII conversion from Paschendale. I looked at the combo many times  and then waited long enough for Eduard to release theirs  ::) ::)

Ed, beautiful model and congratulation on the recognition of your excellence.
Mark, really a superb Alby.  I think the woodwork is nothing short of amazing.
Well done both of you!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Hello Mark and Ed,

These are truly  two wonderful builds. Mark wonderful scheme, like your woodgrain very much, and Ed, your color is so softtoned, very pleasant to look at. Congratulations for you both gentlemen.

Kind regards
Patrick

Hello Ed:

I really like the way your DI turned out.  I have the Roden version of this and have been sorely tempted to pull it out and do it.  Your model is very motivating.  I like the colors and the highlighting.  Outstanding work.

Best

Mark

Beautiful work as always and I know you finished this build many years ago but just in case you see this, are you able to let me know why you painted the wheel covers the greenish colour you did?  The instructions say 'linen' but on different models I've seen them grey like the cowlings and on others both cowling and wheel covers are green.  Given the research you go into before building I'm curious to know whether this was just personal choice or research based?  Many thanks / Ian
