Cheap and cheerful Smer 1/48 Airco DH 2
« on: May 03, 2016, 02:41:19 AM »
All,

Surprisingly good model considering the age and price of this kit.

Model construction fairly straightforward with good fit of parts.   No rigging diagram in the kit so had to work out as best I could from box illustration and searching on the web.   Rigging may not be totally accurate so please bear this in mind when reviewing this one.

Built mostly OOB with some basic alterations to prop (converting to four blade); cockpit; Lewis gun and sanding down the overly pronounced wing ribs.

Regards

Dave

Nice to see a real aeroplane model Dave - i.e. a pusher! I would like to see this at our next club meeting as it looks to be another of your superbly finished models. The rigging on pushers is not as difficult as some people think - it seems to me that you have got it right on this one. I like the colour scheme very much too - in all you have really captured well the look of the real machine.

Stephen.

Looks good, just a little attention and even "oldies" turn into a gret collection model !

A very attractive looking model Dave, the colours are very appealing and you did a superb job with the rigging, the overall finish on this model is excellent.

A wee bit late, but there is a rigging plan on my website.

Lovely wee .2 you have there. She builds up nicely - well done!

I agree with all that has been said.
It is great to see these Smer kits transformed the way you have done.
Well Done Dave,

Thank you all kindly, gentleman.

My first pusher model believe it or not!

Out of all Smers WW 1 kits I have done, this is the best one.

Lovely job Dave! You did great work on the rigging even without a guide. Another source of model rigging info are the instruction sheets that WnW posts on their site.
Cheers,
Gary
