Thank you for your kind comments, my friends!

very well done, your albatross is going to be splendid!
can you tell me whith  product do you mix the misterkit paint to use with the aerograf ?

Xan
I used Vallejo Airbrush thinner to thin the paints, Xan.  Works very well.

Just wonderful! I love your wings and fuselage painting!
Will you leave the decalled fuselage as it is or will you add some filters to the wood tone?
And do you already know, if you'll use the kit wheels or are you going to use replacements?
Kind regards
Andreas

I was planning on an oil filter at first, but after seeing how the decals look on there own, I think I'm going to leave them naked.  I only have one photo of Hohne's plane and it's really hard to determine the exact tone.  It's on the bottom page 13 of Jagdstaffel 2 'Boelcke' by Greg Van Wyngarden and it is taken at a distance while Hohne is taking off in 390/16.  Although the sides look dark, as if the fuselage has been oversprayed, the top appears lighter.  I know with some of the film of the time, yellow can look almost black, so I decided to keep the yellowish varnish look.  Besides, I just like the way Albatrosen look in natural wood.

I've got the fuselage top, bottom and port side finished.  Just need to finish the starboard side and do a little touch-up.

Thanks again, guys!
Cheers,
Bud

I agree: they really look nice, and I wouldn't change the tone.

it actually looks very fine! I just asked, because Alex gives that oilfilter hint in his tutorials (http://www.uschivdr.com/tutorials/). Which decals exactly did you use? "fine veneer", "knotless", "fine veneer plywood" or "coarse"? It is really a wonderful finish.

Thanks for your support and encouragement on the wood tones.  They look rather pale in the last photo because I shot it with the bright, early morning light shining directly on it through the window.  Kinda washed everything out, including the grey cowling.  Looks more grey-blue than grey-green.  This photo is more like it.  As you can see, it's too late to change it now, even if I wanted to, which I don't. ;)

I used 4 different types, but primarily WGSF-48 Rich.  The nearly white looking thingy peeking out from behind the stack is Aviattic's Light German CDL, which I used on the rudder.

Thanks for your interest, guys!

Bud

Truly spectacular Albie plywood. You really should not like to change the wood tone, Bud.
