Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter 'Comic Fighter Eastern Express 1/72

Finally finished this Comic Fighter.  I've been putting off the rigging because I only realised after I bought it that it had double wires (like every other Sopwith I've built).  Rigged with stretched sprue.
Only issue was getting the tail to sit right.  AK paint for the linen and the PC10.  Used the kit decals which are OK but a bit thin and could have done with painting white behind them.
It's surprisingly large compared to all of the other WW1 fighters in my cabinet!

 Nice job!  I built the same model but the decals disintegrated on me.  I am glad you were able to get your decals to work.

That is superb. I had no idea that such a type existed until yesterday when I saw the kit of one. It would be large for a fighter.

I have a question about using the AK paints. Do you spray them and if so, what product and ratio do you recommend?
I am having a tough time getting my AK paint to cooperate.

I have AK air that you can spray without diluting it.  It goes on easily enough but the finish is really delicate and wears off edges when you pick them up!  Using a low pressure seems best.

Somehow I missed this one, very nice work on this kit. Good to see someone using the old fashioned stretched sprue, I always used t his in 1/72. The Strutter us surprisingly big.

I have AK air that you can spray without diluting it.  It goes on easily enough but the finish is really delicate and wears off edges when you pick them up!  Using a low pressure seems best.

AK Air second generation paints don't need diluting to spray but the new 3rd Gen Air paints are much thicker and do need diluting (quite a lot....)

Wow!  An excellent build of this plane and in my scale.  And you are braver than me.  I still do not double my flying wires.

I found Roden decals of the first generation had a shelf life of about 15 minutes.  After that they floated away to unknown parts with so much as a "See Ya".  Their later decals were better.  Spraying them first with a clear coat helps.
