Biff Exhaust
« on: October 02, 2015, 06:11:16 PM »
Dear fellow Modellers. With the appearance of the postwar WNW kit we are now spoiled for choice on the exhaust layout. I own several Windsock books on the subject but they are sparse on info on this matter. As i have Pheon's decals of the McKeever bird, i wonder of one of the exhausts on the new sprue is a drop in replacement for this particular plane. Can anyone shed a light on this matter?

With a view to building the Eduard Biff, using Peon decals I've been looking into this myself. Although I like the look of the long sloping exaust with the squadron markings used prior to March 1918, it doesn't seem that likely (in France anyway). Much more likely is the first form of lenthened pipes running parallel to the cockpit, but of course without seeing a photo of McKeever's a/c I don't know.
So far I've looked in
The Bristol Fighter. J.M. Bruce (Vintage Warbirds No.4)
The Bristol F2B Fighter. Chaz Bowyer
Windsock Datafiles 4 & 115 on the Bristol Fighter
W/S D/F Special Vols.1 & 2 on the Bristol Fighter
Bristol F2 Fighter Aces of WW1 (Osprey)
and various articles in Cross & Cockade without sucess.
Does anyone know the original source material for the profiles of McKeever and Powell's A-7288?
Cheers,
Tony.
