New WW1 decals from kiwiresin
« on: July 18, 2015, 09:01:34 PM »
I am about to realease some ww1 decals.
These are screen printed, and limited to 200 sets.
I have decided that rather than produce a sheet of schemes for one
aircraft, I would produce a set that covered a selection of aircraft
flown by one unit, so the modeller can maximise the use
of the decal sheet.

Cost is $20 US plus post of $3.50 US for the complete set.
Alternatively the Spad and Nieuport sheets can be had seperately at
$13.00 US each

Cheers,
Dave Lochead

This is something I have wanted to see done for years! One squadron and the aircraft they flew. As some of us have limited funds and time we may never build 5 or 6 of the same Aircraft in 1/32nd, but a sheet that offers multiple aircraft types on one sheet from one squadron is right up my alley!I will certainly be interested in a set! Now how about: 43 and 19 Squadron RAF, The Storks, The 1st Pursuit Group USAS, and of course JG1 :-)

PS: I have been reminded that this is not the first Squadron Marking sheet done in this scale... but it is the first that is one of the Squadrons I model  8)

I agree with Rick, this is a great way to package a set of markings. These are all really interesting schemes as well, hopefully more to come!

Hi!
Exactly my thoughts, and most modelers I'm sure. This is a smart move.
But DES! WHY DID YOU HAVE TO RELEASE THIS SET AFTER I'VE DONE 3 Ni 17?????
Well, bummer...
Do you have any other decals in store?
Ciao
Iwik, feeling an urge...

Thanks Iwik for your comments but I'm afraid I do not produce or sell the decals, please contact Dave at  [email protected]  or go to his website where you can order the decals  www.kiwiresin.com   I'm sure Dave will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the positive feedback about this sheet. Currently its at the printers, i am expecting elivery between 7-14 days.

I did the sheet for several reasons, but the main reason for me is all the hobbycraft nieuports and Spads that have completely unuseable decals. Also Im keen to build the Nie 11.

If these sell well, i will definitely be doing more sheets with a similar theme. Already Im thinking ahead regarding new subjects.

I quite agree!!!!

As was asked, I'd like to know if you'll make a run of 1/72nd decals?

well I could do these in all scales, however its a large financial comitment already, so I will not commit to anything until I have seen how succesful this sheet is. If it goes well, then I will definitely issue in 1/72 and 1/48

Neat stuff, indeed! Hopefully your fellow Kiwis who happen to produce kits will join in the Nieuport and SPAD fun.

Cheers from NYC,
Michael

dont see why wnw would want to do aircraft kits that have already been well done in 1/32 but who knows. then again i am more forward thinking than some so maybe wnw will switch its pattern and re-do all the common aircraft that have already been done.

Well I would not say the Hobbycraft/Academy Nieuport 17 is "Well done".  I have seen some nice builds done, but you either have to build a resin interior that does not quite fit, with a not 100% accurate floor design or scratchbuild your own. And also the nose and cowl needs to be reworked to get the correct shape, the kit is pretty basic and no where near as good as what WNW would do.  I'm not sure about the special Hobby Nieuport 11/16, they look nice in photos but are once again limited run kits and leave a lot to the builder to add.
