Humbrol matt white acrylic
« on: June 25, 2015, 05:33:03 AM »
What's happened to it? I have recently bought a tinlet (No.34) and despite giving it a thorough stir it doesn't cover anything like as well as it used to. in fact it barely covers at all, looking more like wood varnish does before it dries. I normally use Tamiya acrylics but I've always had problems with their flat white so have used Humbrol for white instead. Humbrol has always covered well until now. Brush painting, of course.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I use Humbrol acrylics a lot now for brushing and love them. I've had no problems with #34 white ( acrylic) and I also use it for mixing colours, again with no problems. How recent a batch is yours? Its possible it's from a bad batch but I suggest you email Hornby direct and ask what's up? They are very responsive.

I'm gradually converting from Humbrol enamels to acrylics because the acrylics brush so beautifully,.

Sometimes I struggle with handbrushing acrylics, either just too thick or too thin.

I prefer Revell Aqua acrylics though, in the little blue square pots, if you can get them.

I've just been the take another look at it and it's perfectly OK now. I don't get it.  :-\
