book about Leon De Broukčre and early aviation in Belge

Last time that I was in Bruxelles I spent half an hour early in the morning visiting the Cinquantenary museum.
I bought this book about early aviation in Belgium in the museum's bookshop.
I did not know about this book, which is very interesting, so here I am sharing this finding with you.

Hello ermeio. Thanks for sharing this book with us. It's always interesting to see what's coming out about early aviation.

In the detail photo you show, the body of the aircraft looks very reflective. Do you sense that it's varnish or do you think there had been a very recent rain shower? There's several hats and coats being worn in the group, but maybe it was just a cold day.

I had a look at the rest of the photos and also to other books: the deperrdussins tend to show an high reflective finish.
This is quite common for the aircraft of that period, but I have read some where that they used silk instead of linen, and  therefore they are utterly glossy.
Moreover they were covered with a checkered tissue, and the white lines are quite discernibile in some photos.
