Where to buy Albion Alloy product online?
« on: September 16, 2015, 02:12:05 PM »
Hey guys, one of my LHS closed down recently here in Japan that stoked Albino Alloy products - specifically 0.5mm/0.3mm tube so I'm looking for a reliable online retailer that can ship international at a reasonable price.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried this place, I always have received excellent service at a good price. I buy all my Griffon brass tube from them and they ship post free.

They 0.5 OD 0.3 ID is on back order, however I just contacted the chain of stores and they very kindly redirected me to a webstore where I could purchase the products from. It's sad as the crew at the shop were really great guys that although had no clue about WWI aircraft (They only sold SWS ZOUKEI-MURA kits) they always took a huge interest in the work I was doing.

but if this place can ship to Japan for free - I will certainly be using them in future!

I dont know if it will help you, but in the States Last Cavalry www.lastcavalry.com has started selling Albion products. I just got a huge restock including the new connector  bits. Dave says he should be able to get the tools also.

The problem with ebay is the shipping costs, I originally ordered through a store there but after discovering a local dealer it worked out a lot cheaper - yep there was a mark up but no shipping.

Anyway for now I have got my stock levels back up...... 6 tubes of 0.5mm/0.33 makes a lot of turnbuckles!

Me too It's a good place for Canadians to buy from as they ship USPS and the Border Service/Customs folks tend to not bother with the package thus no duty nor, as with Squadron, Brokers fees! The latter can double the cost of the order very easily! :o

Does anybody know where to source brass tubing that is oval as it looks like I will need to fabricate inner wings struts  for my Albatros DV.a. As mine seem to folded in half overnight. :(

easy enough to make from round tubing by pinching in a vice -- check my build log for exact specs [around page 78 or 80 or something ]

MY GOD BO!

Those are incredible!!! Its the Carbane struts that have gone on mine they both buckled outward :( I think I should have attached them to the top wing first and then the fuselage.

Does anyone have any tips on attaching the top wings as I always seem to have trouble.
