Great work, excellent woodgrain, very realistic.

I met Herrn Schnitttke, the mechanic of Ernst Udet in the 1920is and 1930is.
He told me some stories.
Udet was really a nice, splendid, faithful, crazy guy he loved flying and women (in this order), as well as parties, good food and good wine and wisky, but he was also very naive to trust people…
In the 1930is when he got his job in the air force administration he told Herrn Schnittcke: “The time as a stunt pilot was the best time of my life, I was free, now I'm a prisoner!”

Best regards

Bruno

That is one really superb model. The wood finish on the fuselage is really something else again ……. just wish that I could achieve that effect.

Thanks again!
Bruno, Udet's last years were unpleasant to say the least.  He was an extremely gifted pilot, though.

The finish is pretty straightforward: Tamiya buff coat, then wiping on raw sienna oil paint and using a paper towel to take off most of the oils and leave streaking.  I did this a few panels at a time.  The rich color comes from multiple overcoats of clear yellow and clear orange.

Hi Warren,
Tamiya buff undercoat, then I used JammyDog .75 mm tape to mask the strips and sprayed Tamiya red brown.  After that dried I wiped raw sienna oil to get a bit of grain, and then over coated with Future.
