Really nice work on painting that planking. Something to remember when I do a Nieuport!

Watch out the little shelf the seat rests on is way too low; the pilot would have to stand up to see. Ask me how I know.

I remember Martin saying something about the seat position when he built his kit, it's great to have a heads-up on these issues.

Thank you for your interest!

I like the prototypes, and planes strangely shaped in general!

These are often largely neglected of the development of aviation in the First World War. There have been so many, often very interesting! What effervescence of engineers!

jamieg: Your comment is interesting for me because I would like to close today.

Des: I have read and watched the subject by Ratio. It is in my favorite pages because its mounting responds to many of my questions, and is very pretty. My understanding is that ratio had set too low cockpit. He rectified, but does not mention that the location of the seat is too low.  :-\. Maybe he will know tell me if he reads this interrogation  :).

Xan: This prototype was designed in 1915 as a competitor of the Fokker monoplane! (hahaha). It was to be a high-speed fighter. The design had to meet a desire for dynamic drag to a bare minimum. The speed could reach 180 km / h, but it was too high take-off and landing.

I'm sorry I master English with difficulty!!

Best Regards

Arnaud

Otherwise, I have a little continued:

I'm sorry for the picture quality.

There is a part of PE to be sanded on the seat top...

Xan;  The design was proposed to Idflieg at the end of 1915. The idea was to eliminate as much drag as possible, hence the shape which completely enclosed all possible sources of drag within the fuselage. Originally the designers had intended to even eliminate struts and wiring by making short cantilever wings. Idflieg said no to the idea of a biplane without struts and rigging(it says in our rule book that biplanes must have bracing between wings) so they had to be added. Flight tests revealed it to be as fast as the Albatros D.I would later be even though it had only a 100hp engine. Idflieg was unhappy with visibility for the pilot, especially in landing.

It is interesting to speculate how this little guy would have performed with the extra 60hp of the Mercedes D.III engine. It seems to have been defeated by the conservatism of the Idflieg folks.

Jamieg: Thank you for this summary, clearer than mine!

Radio: Your model serves me well for mine! Thank you!

Xan: I know this picture, but not of this quality! It's interesting in red, I had not observed this detail! Thank you very much!
In green, I guess heI will have to pierce these details . Martin drilled but I see many models with just the decals of the box.
I don't know for things to do.

I continued improvements yesterday:

A bientôt

Arnaud
