LF Gotha GVa/b Box Tail details
« on: March 19, 2015, 07:18:47 PM »
Hello,

I'm close to rigging the tail of my Gotha GVa, but I can't really find good photo or a diagram of the box type of tail used for the Gotha GVa/b. I have the special Gotha windsock datafile, but can't really figure it out from there so any additional help here will be most welcomed!

My exact question is: how was the rudder rigged? It seems like one line on each side goes somewhere in the middle near the fuselage and not t  the two rudders themself. There is a horizontal bar conencting them, so maybe the line is connected to it somewhere, but as I said I can;t really figure it out, so please help!

here are few pictures from the datafile that I compiled to give some visual on my question!

best regards,
Sasho

I think the answer can be seen in the scrap view -- I see a central bell crank which is connected to the two rudders via rods (or cables?):
