I bought a week-end edition of Eduard's Pfalz D.III and when I received it found a welcome bonus of partial PE and full decals from 8045 Profipack in the box.

After a bit of to and froing I decided I'd go for the Hans Bethge scheme as detailed by Eduard, although I had read that it's not accurate.

In hindsight, I'm not sure I made the correct decision as I had a fight with the Lozenge, and I think they've won >:( I couldn't get them to settle down, and if I did, when dry they kept lifting. I've used white glue to fix as much as possible but you can still see they're raised in places in the photos.

Still, in the cabinet it looks ok, I'll just put it down to experience and another lesson learned.

Congratulations on completing another beautiful project my friend. Are the stripes on the fuselage dark gray ? No matter though she's still a beauty.

Hi Steve,

Yes, rest bedded down fine. The orange is a bit translucent, allowing the underlying grey stripes to show through.

Beautiful, Ken.  Love the Bethge paint scheme.  You might be able to get the loz decals to settle down a bit by hitting them with a little heat from a hair dryer.  It's always worked for me.  It has the added bonus of pulling any loose rigging snug, as well.  All in all, a very lovely model, none the less.  Who's lozenge did you use, anyway?

Yea, Pfalz D.IIIa is just beautiful. And your model is a true tribute to that aircraft - striking colour scheme, nice execution. Congratulations!

Hi Bud,

Do you use the hairdryer whilst they are drying, or after they've dried?. Lozenge was Eduard.
