I've looking over the engine in the kit and it is basically wrong in the shape of the crank case and the cylinders

Then the thought of using the Siemens engine from Tom's Modelworks Pfalz D.VII/III kit and this has a few issue with it as well . The cylinders aren't lined up

and it's crack case isn't right either even though the detail is done rather well ! Well what about the Vector resin one ! As much as I would love to get one , it's not in the cards and it won't fit in the cowl . An easy fix by just shorting the cylinders where the meet the crank case , shorting the push rods and the induction pips . saving all that wonderful detail on the cylinder tops !
Now the question is ...do I scratch build one , this could take awhile or just use what is in the kit ...
I'm not a fan of white metal so I will swap out the metal one for a resin one and go from there .
