  Petrov,
Maybe an overdone marking scheme but none the less one my favorites. Congratulations on one beautiful Fokker my friend.
Highest Regards,

Thanks again for all the positive feedback!

So glad to actually finish a kit (first one this year sadly) - super inspired now though and started work on one that has been a "shelf queen" half finished for several years - SSDIII from Roden - hoping I can wrap that up by years end!

Oh it's lovely, but it does remind me of a polyester jumper I had in 1975 that was tomato soup coloured. ;D

A wonderful build Petrov. It is an extremely well assembled and painted aircraft. Many congratulations.

Kind regards

Yes indeed. I really like the colors, texture effect and level of fading with these - not too much, just right (IMHO)

Udet`s Fokker DVII  was my first WWI aircraft ever - Smer`s kit - I got it for the birthday and painted it with my mum`s nail enamel and markers...
You did a great job - nice and clean - simply perfect.
Congrats!!
Best regards
Filip

Thank you xmald!

Redid the pictures with my new light setup - some improvement though I think i need a camera that has a greater depth setting as I cant seem to get the focus good through the whole shot....

Must say that your Udet Fokker looks excellent.  There has been some conpiracies towards the actual paint scheme on Udet's Fokker.  Wingnut Wings and other sources say that it carried lozenge wings where as other sources say that the top wing carried Red and White stripes.  My questions is:  who is correct?

Esteban:

I believe that both are correct, because Udet had more than one Fokker D.VII. ;D   There is an excellent article, "The Importance of Being Ernie's," (love the title!) in volume 3 (I believe) of the Albatros Publications Fokker D.VII Anthology, which discusses the schemes of Udet's various D.VIIs.  I am in the office and the book is at home, so I can't give you all of the aircraft number details, just the basics from memory.  There is a photo of Udet standing behind an OAW-built D.VII which has the candy stripe top wing just like on this model.  I believe this aircraft was very short-lived, as it crashed after only a week or two of Udet's use.  Thereafter, he used other D.VIIs, including the D.VIIF for which WNW offers the paint scheme with the red fuselage and lozenge top wing.

The larger controversy has been the color of the stripes on the OAW D.VII's top wing.  Some saw black, some say red.  That's really a matter of personal preference.  I like the red, just like Petrov modeled it!  ;D  My preference is partly childhood nostalgia, since the cover art on my paperback copy of Udet's biography, "Ace of the Iron Cross," from around 1968, showed his D.VII with red stripes.  I have always liked that scheme.  :D

Bob

Both are correct - udet flew several DVII. His 1st had the striped top wing. His later mount - a DVIIF - had lozenge wings.

Now the colors of the 1st stripe-wing aircraft are a huge debate as well but I went with what I preferred...

Thank you for the kind feedback on my build!

I think we posted at the same moment :)

There is also debate if the stripe-wing was OAW or Fokker built....
