hello from Brisbane Australia
« on: November 29, 2013, 10:59:42 PM »
Hi everyone
I am both and old hand and very new to this hobby. I have been a painter of historical miniatures since my teens but I have only built one aircraft kit since 1980- and that was only a few weeks ago! I have always had a fascination for WWI aviation and also for the aircraft used in the wars following “Peace” in November 1918, especially the Polish- Soviet war and the Russian Civil War.
I was lucky enough to see the most recent Vintage Aviator airshow and that is when I decided to start making planes again.
Cheers

I am a "complete" novice to WWI aircraft, but you could not have found a BETTER forum for friendliness & good advice!!
This is the best I have been treated on ANY modeling forum, "BAR NONE"!! :)

Hello Damian and welcome to the forum, so nice to see you here. I am hoping to get to New Zealand soon to see all those wonderful aircraft first hand, I am glad they have inspired you to start building WW1 aircraft models and I look forward to seeing your builds posted here.

If it helps get you over there for one of their airshows here is my favourite pic from the last one. Not great detail but very atmospheric.

Welcome Damian,
There are some very nice ww1 figures about too - hope to see you apply your skills to some of them!
I am eagerly awaiting the upcoming release of an RFC pilot and mechanic in 54mm from Model Cellar.
There are several manufacturers out there - you might find something to suit your new interest!

The air force will always need technicians because pilots need heroes too.
