Kit Conversion
« on: November 23, 2013, 08:52:09 AM »
  I was wondering if anybody out there has attemted to convert a WnW kit into another version. I have the Gotha G.IV, but I would like to convert it to a Gotha G.Va or.Vb. I understand the differentces but was wondering if anybody has attempted this type of conversion. Thanks

Ron Kootje has a conversion set available, might be worth a look.

Interesting thought.  I've been considering the following as future WNW conversion projects:

1.   Gotha GVa using Ron's conversion set and decals;

2.   Belgian RE.8 w/ Hispano-Suiza engine;

3.   AEG IV back to AEG II (maybe?); and

4.   Fokker E.III to Fokker A-2, as per Old Man's 1/72 conversion.

Anyone else have WNW conversions in mind?

Regards,

Bob

Des,

  Thanks for referral,I contacted Ron and a conversion is on the way.

Rahllinger,

  Some interesting ideas, I especially like the AEG idea!

The AEG G.II is an earlier version, with less powerful engines.  It was the bomber in which MVR flew as observer/bombardier before he became a fighter pilot.  Here is an artists profile, taken from a photo of MVR's aircraft.

I need to do more research to determine how similar the G.IV and G.II were.  The fin and rudder were definately different.  The wings look similar.

Cheers,

Bob

BOB,

  Please keep us informed, I'd love to see what you come up with! The WnW AEG has been in development for ever it seems and I can't wait to get one. I tryed to build a 1/33 AEG paper model from czech republic, but not so good. It's not quite as big as the Gotha but very large indeed. If I was running the show for Wnw, I'd have a seperate bomber division with everybody's giant multi engine bomber kits. The rendering of the AEG you posted looks great, I'll poke around to see what I can find also. Thanks
