Last weekend I had a great pleasure to visit and participate in this event - the first modeller's competition in the Polish city of Czestochowa, which is much better known as a pilgrimage destination with its Jasna Gora cloister famous for the Black Madonna Shrine.
However, the Modeller's Club Modelikarz tried to make their home-city even more popular. And it must be said, they succeeded, being able to gather several hundreds of modellers, mostly from Poland, who presented about 450 models in practically all modelling categories: airplanes, military, artillery, ships, dioramas, figures, railway, SF, etc. It is worth to note, that both, plastic and card-board models were represented.
The most interesting for us, plastic aviation models, were divided into subcategories depending on scale (>32, 48, 72, <100) and subject (military propeller driven, military jets, civil, helicopters). In each there were two classes -standard and modified.
WW1 subjects had no separate category, they were naturally included in military propeller driven category.
There were also a couple of club expositions and small modelling shop stands.
The exhibition was open free of charge to the public throughout Saturday and Sunday, and I have seen many families with children visiting and admiring the models. It was certainly so thanks to a perfect location of the event - in a school in the main street of Czestochowa leading to the Jasna Gora cloister.
In general the event was a great success. Some technical problems the organisers encountered at the final award ceremony should not discourage them and I trust this was the beginning of a new series of fine modelling events.
WW1 (and around) subjects presented in the contest included:
4 models by a member of this forum - Marcin Chruscielewski - Chrupek:

FE2b

Hannover Cl.II (2nd place in >32nd scale propeller driven, standard category - congrats!)
and several further ones:
<100th scale:
72nd scale:

48th scale
cardboard Dr.I
As for the contest results, I am very pleased to announce that three members of our informal modelling group Modelarstwo Redukcyjne had their models awarded. The Grand Prix for the best model went absolutely deservedly to Irek Mikucki for his super-detailed SBLim-2a in 48th scale. He obviously won his category - 48th scale jets, modified.
Radoslaw Jurczyk won 1st place in the 48th scale, propeller driven, modified category for Spitfire Mk.IIa.
And the author of this text was awarded:
1st place in >32nd scale propeller driven, standard category for FE2b
2nd place in 72nd scale propeller driven, standard category for Macchi M.5
and to his utmost surprise - 1st place in 72nd scale helicopter standard category for PKZ-2!
