Thank you for your very kind comments Zabu. The cracks are only on the inner black crosses of the upper wings, all other decals were from the superscale sheet and were very easy to fix , unfortunately there were no inner black crosses on the sheet  ???so I had to employ a pair of old and fragile black crosses from my previous Pfalz build which with some cursing and gentle persuasion finally fitted to an acceptable standard, I just need to finely touch up the imperfections and then its some weathering, shading and assembly time ;D.  have a new toy to use for assembly , the JHmodels wooden jig so am looking forward to this stage.

Gilly,
A unique scheme coming along very nicely; she'll be a standout when completed. I'd be very interested in seeing some illustrations of the Jig you refer to. I've got a metal version (Aeroclub) and, although it works well, it is very "finicky" to set up and use. Keep at this one, it's looking very good.
Cheers,
Lance

Thank you for your kind comments Lance, they are very much appreciated.

I still have the jig all flatpacked from shipping so I will add some pics to this thread of a start to finish build of the jig as well as it in action during the assembly phase of the Albatros.

kind regards

Mark

Hello, Gilly -

Sorry, dropping in late here.

The work your are doing on your Albie looks excellent - nice choice of colour scheme/markings.  Good luck with the rest of your build.

Regards

Dave

A quick update as I finally got myself a little time to build the JH Models Jig I intend to use for the rest of this project and all future builds.

It took a couple of hours to go from this:-

to this:-

This excellent tool will be perfect for my needs, it came flat packed and reminded me of the Balsa models we used to get as kids, the pieces pushed out from their cutouts easily (after using a new blade to cut the small lugs) and were well machined and good fitting, the only problem I had was I was a couple of nuts short (story of my life) but a quick trip to the toolbox soon rectified that little problem.

I took photos for each step of the construction and have placed them at this link for your perusal:-

I am really pleased with it and look forward to putting it to good use.

Now at last I can get round to finishing this little project.

Now that's a handy little rig, Gilly.  It should be of great help for all your
1/48 builds.  As for the Albatros, she looks absolutely stunning!  Well done!

Cheers,
Ernie :)

Good Evening Stefan, I was lucky enough to pick this up at Arrow Wolf Scale Models and accessories , just checked and they still have stock, link is as follows :-

http://www.arrow-wolf.com/product/jh-models-148th-124th-scale-building-and-painting-jig-bi-plane/

They had none in stock when I first enquired about them but were good enough to contact me when a new shipment was on its way from JHModels in the Czech Republic.

I hope that helps,

Kind regards Mark

Almost there  :). All main components assembled, just some shading, weathering, rigging and finish the upper wing radiator (need to work on some sprue for that) and then the finishing coats and we are there  :).

Now the big question is what shall I do next :-\

What to do next Gilly?  Keep at it...you've done a first-rate job up to now.
By the way, I like the off set rudder.  Nice touch.

Cheers,
Ernie :)

That's brilliant, Gilly.  I haven't seen that scheme before, it's very eye-catching.  What looked to be a disaster, when you got the model delivered, has turned into a really nice model.

Cheers.

Dal.

Just to bring this thread to a close folks, having forgotten all about it to be honest, all the hard work and effort was to no avail  :'( . Following a house move, which the model negotiated unscathed it suffered significant damage from mr nobody placing a pair of shoes on it  :'(  :'(. The response I had from she who must be obeyed was "oh well, you will have to build it again  :o. So I gathered together all the pieces, boxed them and put them away, perhaps this model was never destined to be finished. If I do attempt her again, there will have to be a significant amount of drilling and pinning to replace all the damaged joints.
