Pete, sorry late to the party but do you have a serial number for this machine? Or, failing that, a date when it was taken on? That might help you sort out which motor to build. D.IIIa's seemed to have been fitted to the last batch or so. Somewhere there is a table (WS Albatros Fighters maybe? -- I'll have to dig or Keith knows ) Otherwise D.III would be likely. D.Vs from the last batches were arriving at staffels in late fall (oct/nov?) 1917. Cheers
According to Rowans ref material, Fritz Oppenhorst was with Jasta 5 from Dec 1917 until Aug 1918, so it is possible that he could have had the DIIIa motor fitted. Although it seems that details of the aircrafts specific equipment are unknown.
