Flip,

This and the Pup are just incredible - they're exactly what I want mine to look like before I start but never quite achieve..

You must have an artist's background? I'd be really interested to see anything else you've done.

Do you use artist oils for the overall filters?

Beautiful work Flip. Your cockpit is most impressive and the highlighting and shading even better! I look forward to seeing this one completed.

thanks again guys :-)

@Guy, No I don't have an artistic background (have a degree in aeronautical engineering :-)), but I'm lucky enough to be a member of a modelling club that has some top notch figurine and AFV modellers and I learned a lot from them. Most of the techniques I use are quite similar to the ones that are commonly used by figurine painters. They are not too difficult to master, but are very effective. Check out the works of Jaume ortiz or my friends Staf Sneyers, kristof Pullinckx (AFV modellers) and Marijn Van Gils (AFV and figurines) for examples.

For weathering I always use oil paints, because I find I have (almost  ;)) total control over them. I seldom use overall filters but use them more to create variation (to pick out panels that where made out of different materials for instance)

Little update on the Hisso as well.
Been trying to replicate worn dark leather. This I did using life color acrylics. Should I leave it this way or should I lighten up the worn area's a bit more?

Cheers

Flip

The leather coaming looks worn, dark overall, and very real. You've "aced" it, I wouldn't change it at all!
Great work!

Thanks Flip,

I'll check those out.. Yes, that makes sense, the guys who do the competition standard figures have always impressed me with their artistic skills.

Wow Flip what beautifull paintwork and your cockpit is absolutely breathtaking. Wait till you see my work of the SE5a and you will understand that your model is fantastic. Many congratulations. I like it very much!
