Looks good to me Andi..

The fuselage looks nice and subtle.. I'd always prefer a model to look a teeny bit underdone than overdone.
Once you're happy with the basic colour/ shading I'd then clear coat and decals - then seal that all in with a light sheen or matt (or gloss again if you're going to do any pin washes, before a final sheen coat). The best investment I made was a set of polishing cloths of varying grades - the 8000-12000 are great for a light sand between coats and gives the finished model a lovely lustre - even with a matt finish.

I know I've said before, but in my opinion, give yourself a break and start with a Wingnuts kit - it's just so much easier. They still require a lot of thought in the processes but at least you're not battling against the kit in terms of fit and mould quality..

Airbrushes are great aren't they? :D

She's coming along nicely Andi. I think it's always better to err on the side of caution when it comes to weathering. You can always add to it, but it's awfully hard to take a step back. Keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Chris

You are making great progress Andi. Some of the rigging wires will go through the decals so it will be best to gloss coat the wings first, then apply the decals then you can apply your matt or satin coat of clear for you finish coat. I always drill all the holes for the rigging wires before I apply the decals, the holes under the decals are easy to find. It is easier to fix the decals to the wings before the wings are mounted to the fuselage.

Nice to see you back at this one. Your colours look spot on and the weathering is subtle.

Yes, I have noticed Andi ;D

Always look forward to your paint jobs, no matter what the subject

So how many Wingnut kits have you now collected?

Awww! You guys! ........... thanks for having me back [sniff].

Seriously - many thanks for your continued support, I appreciate every and all input, even from Gordon -[gfadvance], this guy is a newbie - or should I say "lurker" here, but boy is he a top drawer builder. Also pretty good at taking the pish as well!!! Damn Scot's!

Guy ... Many thanks for your thoughts, I shall though keep beating myself up with this build until it's done - it's in my nature to be so cussed! Plus I'm using it as a process piece as much as anything - I'd sooner jigger something up on this build than one of them there WNW kits. ................. Oh and Gordon ... "thirteen" ... I actually didn't want to post that what with the new spray booth, brushes and your very generous gift of the Truck wheel set.
But seeing as I'm outed now - I may as well post into the "new to you" thread with my burgeoning stash - I have spent all the rent, gas, and electric money you know?

Des' ... Great instruction, just the kind of thing I was hoping for - I think this need for the obvious will fade a little as my experience grows with the genre, but until then mucho thanks for the generous help.

Cheers all ... hopefully something a bit more exciting next time?

Andi,
I am glad to see your new Airbrushes are working to such a high standard  :D Actually I think the Modeler behind the gun makes a big difference too! Your Morane is looking Beautiful. The subtle shading and weathering is most excellent!! It is also good to see this seldom Modeled kit being worked on.

Des, sorry I didn't get straight back to you! Embarrassment more than anything I guess? I do seem to be struggling to make headway at the moment ... not just at the bench, but rather life in general. A bit like driving into heavy rain when your wipers only give you a glimpse of what's ahead: just seems like at the moment my wipers are going like the clappers and I'm still driving blind!!!

Anyhoo - despite the weekend Philosophy, I've taken a couple of drive-by pic's, as much as I thought they might amuse. I've been struggling with the very vague assembly of this "Special Hobby" kit - abandoned pretty much all the photo etch as being for another kit [a ship probably] as it seems to have little or no relevance to the rest of the bits in the box. And I've wasted countless days worrying over the fitting of the wings - all sorts of thoughts of turning a tie-bar or filling holes and providing new spigot arrangements but in the end just thought "Sod it" ..... glue the bliddy things on and make sure the rigging is  nice and tight.

Here's a couple of pic's then - more as proof of minor progress, but as much to show my overkill method of supporting the wing till the sticky stuff goes hard.

Cool huh? .......................

Man, that is one hefty looking jig you are using there, at least it won't bend with the weight of the wing sitting on it  :) :) Looking pretty good so far Andi and I can assure you that there is no need to be embarrassed, you are doing an excellent job, thanks for the update.

Looking good to me as well.  I ended up gluing toothpicks into the locating holes in the fusilage, trimming both ends, embedding wire in toothpicks and drilled out holes in the wings, as a way to attach the wings. Actually worked a treat if a little laborious.... until my daughter leaned over the workbench trying to grab something and rested her hand on the plane. Crunch. Dad was a little unhappy but all was forgiven and you would barely notice now (just don't pick it up!)
