Trying something a bit different this time. It's a free download from a site called Landships II (http://www.landships.info/landships/models.html#).
It's 1/250th scale as printed but you can make it other scales too. As is it'll be almost 2 feet long. It seems simple but it does have some interesting assembly ideas like a triangular central keel. I'm excited to get started. The first thing will be to back the formers with 1/32nd balsa and make the keel from thicker paper stock. I'm also going to emboss the parts a bit for more character and I think I'll need to repaint the machine as my printer has too many streaks in it.

Thanks, Alexis! I am excited to try something a bit different.

Here I cut out and added balsa to all the main formers and got the nose section completed too. Also got the main keel completed. No bad seams yet and all lines up well. Keeping all fingers and toes crossed for the rest of it...Dan

Thanks Alexis and Nigel! Your are right...cones and cylinders are great. Long cylinders are sometimes tricky, but this designer split things up into 4 pieces. We'll see how she develops.

Here is some more of the envelopes completed. Things are just slid onto the keel but it gives a preview of things to come! I do think I'll need to fill the major seams between the envelope parts which will be tricky, but maybe it'll look ok in the end. Either way, having fun with this one.

So how will you fill them and then will you have to repaint everything?
