Der Kampfflieger Caproni Ca.3 1/72nd Paper Model
« on: July 22, 2026, 02:00:09 PM »
Well...it's done. I added the aileron control cables, various pulleys, scratched the rear gunner's cage, made the spent shell bags for the guns, scratched the wing tip skids and, of course, tried to rig it as best I could. I know I missed a few rigging bits. For example, there is supposed to some rigging that basically runs throughout the whole wing span about mid-interplane level. I just couldn't get those on without messing other stuff up. Nobody will know...shhhhhhh. Oh! I also made most of the main struts out of 1/32nd balsa for strength and tried thickening up some pieces that were just represented by thin paper like the rear gunner's ring. All in good fun.

A very nice little kit and now my Gotha has a stable mate.

Thanks for looking!

Dan looking for the next paper model...

Wow, I think that turned out really well. I was concerned that the rather flimsy structure and very open cockpit might present challenges in the paper medium, but it all looks great. Well done with the gunner's pulpit, I was worried about how you would achieve that. And it's ok to leave a few bits off here and there so that you get the model finished - the missing rigging doesn't detract from a lovely model.
