Wingnut Wings 1/32 Fokker E.I Eindecker
« on: June 27, 2026, 01:42:04 AM »
Here's the completed pics of my WNW Fokker Eindecker. This is out of the box with exception of a GasPatch Oberursel U0 plus GasPatch MG and turnbuckles. It uses the Aviattic tailored decal set which was designed for our very own Dutch (who sadly hasn't been on here for a while, I think due to health issues). I really like using the Aviattic decals on these aircraft because they allow you to get a very effective representation of the oil staining - you can see how I did that here:  https://forum.ww1aircraftmodels.com/index.php?topic=15377.0

Excellent piece of work, Nigel - a marvellous job of construction, detail and superb finish as always. I addition to the Aviattic decals & Gaspatch goodies, you used Model Kasten rigging too? But otherwise...out of the box  ;)
Cheers,
Gary

Thanks Gary, glad you like it. And yes, Modlekasten rigging - I really like that.

Top notch work Nigel , she turned out beautifully  :)

Really like the weathering on this one , just the right amount of oil staining , those engines leaked a lot !

I can only repeat what others have said. Please don't put this on a competition table if any of mine are already on there.

Beautifully done, Nigel.
Oil effects are splendid. I haven't had the bottle to try that as yet, so my WNW Eindeckers sit unmade so far. I think your excellent model will give me some confidence!
Lovely

Thanks so much Tim, Alexis, Alan and Sandy, glad you like her. Part of the pleasure of building these models is to share our efforts with fellow enthusiasts, so your postitive comments are much appreciated.

Thanks! The interesting thing is how much the staining varied between aircraft and also during their service life. For example, the early EIs had very little staining on the top of the fuselage and upper longerons, whereas many of the later aircraft had oil running down the upper fuselage as well. I assume this is because they added an oil tank behind the pilot from the EII onwards. Also, the cowling and engine panels rarely look very dirty, even on heavily stained aircraft (I assume because these were easy to wipe clean...). You can probably tell I have spent too much time looking at photos of Eindeckers..... ;D

Thanks Sandy. Do refer to my build thread because I tell you which actual bottle I used! Spoiler alert: it's Tamiya brown panel liner....... ;)

Holy Buckets, Nigel!  That's weathered to perfection.  Top notch, first class, top tier etc.  What a model!
