Monograms B- 26 Marauder 1/48
« on: June 14, 2026, 12:01:51 PM »
Up next on the bench after it got a cleaning is Monograms B-26 . I remember building this kit in my younger years , much younger years . I had this kit in the stash for a while now . It was a trade I did with a local modeller and what I didn't know there was a few goodies in the box . True Details wheel set and Quick boost engine set . So the question is do I add more detail with a few scratch items here and there ....not much will really been seen once everything is all closed up .

Once I get start on painting parts will have pic's up for you guys .

Detail everything with in an inch of its life! You know it doesn't make sense, but it's fun....... ;)

I don't think there would be enough years left in me to detail it with an inch of it's life Nigel .  ;)

I'm definitely with Nigel on this one - use those aftermarket parts and do that model proud. Sounds like a great project and I look forward to seeing your progress. I checked on-line and those old Monogram Marauders are quite valuable, and scrub up quite nicely.
Cheers,
Gary

This will be an interesting subject. The type is not one that I am especially familiar with, yet it was an important aircraft in its time.

Personally I would leave out the details if they cannot be seen on the finished model - it allows more time to build some others in the stash/to do list.

Stephen.

Thanks Gary and Stephen !

Gary , oh will be using the resin parts on this for sure . The well bays are very open on this so I will add a few details here and there to add a bit more effect but I'm not spending months doing this either . As i get older and still have a healthy stash the details seems important but that is not to say I will stop with the super detailing when it comes to some projects .

Stephen , It is how I'm seeing it with this build , a lot will never be seen again once closed up . As much as I do enjoy detailing , life is also to short to be sweating over the details .

Progress has been made with the painting it up . The interior green is a mix of Tamiya flat green and yellow green . I mix this up in a big tamiya jar so I have lots for a few builds and to be some what consistent with the shade and hue . Reset of the parts are painted by hand using tamiya acrylic and enamel . I just starting using thier enamel paints and I must say , I love them ! Spray beautiful as well as by the hair stick . I started a bit of weathering it needs a wash next and a bit more weathering . Still have to paint the flak padding on the side walls . Photos show this to be either an olive green of a yellowish tan . Not sure which colour to use . The light shade would draw more light into the cockpit ....

I'm glad you're not sweating over the details because that looks pretty nicely detailed to me.... :) A great start.
