1/72 MAC Hansa-Brandenburg C.1
« on: May 23, 2026, 06:53:00 AM »
I finally finished  the MAC Hansa-Brandenburg C.1.  Overall it is a nice kit when finished but there were some errors in my kit  The fuselage decals were way too large and had to be replaced.  I used extra fuselage crosses from a Roden Albatros D.1.  The serial number came from the Blue rider sheet

I could not find any reference for the camouflage so I took that on faith. I thought the cockpit detail was good and the PE was useful but I did not use it all.

I really hated the PE gun ring.  The cabane struts were scratch built as my were too short.  I may  have had too much of a dihedral in the lower wing that threw off  the alignment  so next time I will try for 0 degrees. There were many different production series with this aircraft and many alterations were done in the field.  I would highly suggest the Windsock datafile when building this aircraft.  It is a nice addition to anyone's WW1 collection.

That's really nice! I had no idea that MAC had done this one and you've made a great job of it. The camo looks very plausible to me and you've done it really well.

One I've been looking at for a while now RVW and you've made a great job of it.  :)

For what it's worth I always err on the side of dihedral even when it is supposed to be zero degrees; something I found out many moons ago is that we can spot a sagging wing easily, but one that has a tiny bit of dihedral tends to go un-noticed (A bit like when you put some lettering or a word in the exact middle of a space it always looks too low so signwriters always add a tad more space below the word to make it look 'right')

I'll add the Datafile to my must get list since it seems to be one I am missing . . .

That looks very convincing to me. The camouflage is very well done: given the vague details that we currently have with regard to such issues, I think that your interpretation is entirely plausible.

Another first class model.

Stephen.

Wonder how you deal with the 1/72 rigging, that looks very nice.
