Fokker E.I Eindecker - Wingnut Wings 1/32
« on: May 16, 2026, 08:42:47 PM »
I've started work on a WNW E.I. This will be done as E13/15, the machine that was flown by both Immelman and Boelcke at various times. So far I have completed the interior. This is out of the box apart from the straps to lift up the boards in the floor and some HGW seat belts. I painted these a dark red colour as every photo I can find of an Eindecker that shows the seatbelts indicates these were a dark colour rather than linen coloured.

You can see in the last photo that I've used Przemo's trick of packing the area behind the seat with plasticard to stop wing droop.

Next up is the engine, which is a GasPatch item.

What a lovely start to a great kit, Nigel. Beautiful work on the woodgrain (and I really like those seatbelts - in a dark colour). Nice to see you jump into another WnW build. I imagine you'll be doing the overall scheme in Aviattic decal?
Cheers!

Thanks very much Gary, Przemo, Alan and Paul, your kind comments are much appreciated. And yes, this will be covered in Aviattic decals and there will be much oil staining  :)

Thanks very much guys. We now have an engine ready to go. This is a GasPatch Oberursel U0, a beautifully modelled 3D printed engine.

Here's another shot of the interior in the fuselage with the first phases of oil staining happening (just on the inside so far):

Wow - that engine looks excellent. Nice oily look to the thing. Your cockpit interior looks great too, with some internal staining showing through - love that. What metal paints are you using for your "swirls" on the aluminium work?
Cheers,
Gary

The interior and engine are awesome, but those freakin' seat belts are pure artistry.

Thanks Przemo, Gary and Warren, glad you like it so far. I always like to take time with the seat belts because they are one of the obvious things you can see in the cockpit.

Gary, for the swirls I do a base coat of Vallejo Metal Color dark aluminium and then paint the swirls with Vallejo Model Color chrome using a brush. The Vallejo Metal Color range are superb metallics that spray beautifully.
