1:32nd scale Rumpler C.IV

Hi all,
I'm waiting for rigging materials for the Pfalz D.VIII I'm building.
So I thought I'd start researching the next model.

This will be the 'Wingnut Wings' Rumpler C.IV (early), Serial No.8518/16 of Flieger-Abteilung (FA) 209 during 1917.
(FA) 209 was an observation and reconnaissance unit and operated on the Western Front, including Verdun.
During the early part of the war, Feldflieger Abteilungen (Field Flier Detachments), the initial observation units, typically had six two-seat aircraft, either monoplanes or biplanes.

Interested to see what you do with this one Mike. I picked one up for ?110 at the last Gloucester show and it's a really nice looking plane. Definitely one on my "will be done soon pile".....

I think I have the war diary of FFA 209 somewhere on my hard drive. It was published in the 1920ies (of course sadly only in German). There might be some information on the fate of 8518/6, shall I have a look when I?m home again?

I think I have the war diary of FFA 209 somewhere on my hard drive. It was published in the 1920ies (of course sadly only in German). There might be some information on the fate of 8518/6, shall I have a look when I?m home again?

Yes they are.
I think many assume WW1 aircraft doped surfaces were dull, whereas they were in general quite shiny, especially from manufacture,

Hi all,
I've been waiting for turnbuckles to arrived so I can finish the Pfalz D.VIII model.
Finally, after being held bu UPS customs, they have now been delivered.
In the meantime I've been working on the Rumpler cockpit.
I've added a few things, rudder bar foot straps, rudder, aileron and elevator control lines and switch levers to the pilots instrument panel.

It's all yet to be weathered before I close up the fuselage.

So it's back onto the Pfalz model now,

Beautiful build! It also solved a problem of mine, on my Swedish Albatros B.II, when I saw how the elevator was connected to inboard arms on the steering wheel column.

Found the book. It's about FA(A) 211, not 209. Sorry, Mike!
