I agree. I've been dry fitting t he fuselage parts to the cockpit tub and the fit is very impressive.

Marvelous motor and interior, Jorgo! Impressive work. Clearly, you are truly enjoying this N.11 project and its nice to see the depth of detail provided by the kit and knowing that everything fits.

This is actually still an unclear matter. Since it is supposed to be the early version of the Nieuport from around May 1916, it must be an overall yellow finish, not CDL. Paul and Andreas have already provided information on this. I don't know yet whether it makes sense to add transparent linen structure decals. I will test it and then decide.

I have been trying out different light shades of cream/buff, I will be interested to see what you choose. I'm convinced the finish was not transparent, and the rib tapes were not very evident (apart from the central ones which were strengthened). I think I will be keeping any effects very subtle......

Just a small update today. Wings and fuselage are now primed and a little preshading added. To represent the French camouflage colour ?light yellow? I chose Gunze ?radome?, lightening with 'sail Color', or a little darker with Tamiya 'desert yellow'.

Looks good Joerg - I think you'll make it from start to finish within three weeks.

Interesting that you paint the wing while it's still attached to the sprue - doesn't the rework on the areas that still need to be smoothed?

I like that colour Joerg, I think it is close to how the photos look.

I have the same question as Bertl - I spent about two hours yesterday cleaning up the sprue gates on the upper wing and also getting the ailerons to fit snugly. I would have damaged the paint work if I had done that after painting....

Also, could you post some photos of how you mask the edging tapes when you do them please? I hate masking and I am dreading this stage....

This may be the answer to your question about cleaning the sprue gate release points. He still has to paint the taped edges  :-X

Thanks Bertl, Nigel and RAGIII.
I had left the upper wing still on the sprues because after cleaning up the sprue gates the edges have to be painted blue anyway. Normally, of course, I separate the wings from the sprues before painting.
As I am a comfortable and lazy modeller, I bought the painting masks from CSM. This makes painting the taped edges much easier and saves time. There are also masks for the cockades included, so if you want you can paint the French cockades yourself.

Ah OK, I see and understand.
The edges of the wings are outlined with a different color.
I'm also a lazy model builder, so I also ordered the masks.
It's great that the French cockades are also included in the mask set.
