1/72 Aviattic lozenge question.
« on: August 02, 2024, 02:10:25 AM »
My current build (1/72 Pfalz as.XII) has lozenge covered flying surfaces.  References state it should be five color upper and lower with lozenge rib tapes. I have the Quinta studio lozenge but it is printed on clear decal paper so the rib tapes do not look right when applied.  The Eduard rib tape colors do not match. Does anyone have success cutting rib tapes from Aviattic lozenge? (Printed on white decal paper of course). If so, any tips on how to get them cut to 1/72 scale?
Thanks, Tim

Hi Tim. It depends on how crazy you want to get with dimensions, but I've had some success with super-gluing two X-Acto blades together face-to-face, the slight offset of the blade tips (visible by the date on the penny) gives you a strip of whatever you're cutting that ends up being about .6mm wide:

It's an old trick from the days when graphic artists (we were "commercial artists" back then) had to actually cut & paste the art together to get it camera-ready. And if you really want to get involved you can shim the blades with paper or thin sheet stock.

Might be worth a try.
