Both the DVIII and Morane are beautifully painted. The Morane however is simply Amazing! The chipping and oil stains are incredible!!

Thank you all for the kind comments.

As I mentioned at the beginning, this my first time doing 1/48 scale and I have to say I'm a late convert. I came back to modelling like many of us with the WNM revolution, so 1/32 seemed the way to go (although I have kind of strayed into WW1 armour). But I think 1/48 gives you room to add detail while the end model is surprisingly small for these WW1 fighters and a lot less space required for display (plus I think I can actually transport these back to Oz as carry on without too much drama). Unfortunately, the scale seems a little out of favour at the moment! I wish CSM kept going with a 1/48 side line - I'll definitely get their Dolphin and Armstrong FK 8 if I can find one

Anyhow, a small update. Went to the GPO to pick up this - my last excuse has gone... next weekend I will attach the wings and start rigging the little Bullet.. gulp. BvB very kindly included some .08 line as well!

And a couple of pics of the Razor's wing and odds and sods. I very much went with an artistic approach to the wing colours - given how much of it is conjecture I can live with an arty interpretation.

And underneath...

Well, I'll leave it there. Time to sit back for the Blues - Man City game shortly. Not very optimistic so you can probably guess who I support.

cheers all
Matt

[Ha - fair cop! you have to take a bit of stick being a Blues supporter these days!]

A quick update - some progress but realised i needed to leave the rigging alone until i get some thin high-quality CA - using generic 80c stuff was rapidly becoming frustrating and disaster was imminent... i did try your leather technique Nigel - can't see it here but it worked well enough that I'll persevere.

Anyhow, the little bee has its stinger!

cheers
Matt

Not sure how I missed this thread Matt, but loving how both models are progressing. Nice to see a couple of monoplanes for a change and think the weathering on the Morane looks great (I was tempted to try the hairspray technique on the Junkers I recently built, but though it might look a bit too much in the smaller scale; now looking for a suitable subject . . .) ;)

Both look stunning! Glad you got the control line rigging sorted out on the Fokker. Looking forward to seeing these as Monoplanes!

Thanks all

A bit more of an update....one of them now has wings! And I've made a couple of simple display stands - trying something a bit different as they are really quite small and i thought something compact might work.

And I've tried Bertl's pencil method for the prop - good enough that I'll keep trying. I think in 1/48 i need to get the pencils sharper but to get a really clear delineation but its ok.

And as you may note on my 'latest acquisition' post, my stash is starting to grow and the CSM 1/48 are definitely on the list!

cheers all
Matt
