Another different from Normal build method that is working well! Lovely wood panel and overall finish Zac!

Looks great so far, Zac, love those colors on the fuselage. And I've taken to painting a lot of stuff on the sprues myself since I began hanging out on the forum, my skillset has grown by leaps and bounds in the past year or so!

As far as Jamo's photos go, hear, hear! they've been an invaluable aid in the course of the Aviattic Eindecker project.

Just found this Zac. I used to paint all the parts on the sprue in my younger days - there is much to be said for doing so especially if the parts are very small. Cleaning up joins later was not too much of a problem if they fitted well, but if they did not......!

I do hope that you are feeling better at last - having been through a bad patch of my own not so long ago I can sympathise with your lack of energy.

Stephen.

Thanks folks! I hope to do a bit more on this tomorrow.

Thanks Stephen, I'm feeling better physically but have some other work to do. Motivation has been a struggle but I'm eager to finish this for Dave.

Thanks Tim. Of late I've been distracted by a (second!) return to Warhammer 40,000 miniatures but I am determined to finish this for Dave!

I've recently gotten back into miniature wargaming, including buying specialist paints. One is a "Technical" paint, a wash called Nuln Oil which looked like it could help make the engine and other parts seem more realistic. I think it works!

That looks very effective, nice work. Those washes are a key part of my armoury, especially for metalwork. The Army Painter do their own versions which are cheaper than the GW equivalents if you can find them in your neck of the woods.

Thanks folks! It really is a revelation. Painting rotaries (and leaving the adjacent panels which should be stained blank) has always left me less than happy with the result, but doing a couple of light coats with this wash has boosted my confidence and made me feel much prouder of the end result.

The Army Painter do their own versions which are cheaper than the GW equivalents if you can find them in your neck of the woods.
Fortunately I've watched GW's tutorials which taught me their paints actually need to be thinned - which explains why my previous attempts at high school and then 10yr ago were so iffy - so they're lasting much longer than I expected and with nicer results. But thank you for the heads-up!
