Seeking advice on printer and decal paper

Rookie:
I'm thinking of making de roundels, and lettering for my HP V/1500 myself.

Does anyone have experience with house made decals?

Any advice on what printer and paper to buy is very welcome.

Hi Willem, I've been using the clear laser printer decal sheets made by Baremetal and would highly recommend them.  To make roundels, I spray portions of the sheet in each colour. Then cut out individual discs and place them one by one on the model. I've come to prefer this method over kit decals, as they do not have carrier film and can always be placed so that they are in register. Thank you William,

In had never heard of this technique, but I am certainly doing to give it a try!

As for the the lettering (serial on the fins, the "KEEP CLEAR OF THE PROPELLERS" and the "LIFT HERE" signs, I still need a printer (which I wanted to buy anyway) so that question still stands I think.

 The Oki Pro9542 sounds like a great laser printer for producing custom decals. The white toner feature can be used to print white decals on clear decal film and also be used to first lay down a white base to produce opaque color decals. The downside is its high price so it would only be suitable for someone making custom decals as a business.  Here is some information.
