That looks fantastic Bertl. This Roland is the only WNW I don't have that I would still like to get, and you are making me want one more with every photo you post!

Absolutely stunning work Bertl.

The dirt and even de graas on the claw brake are brilliant!

And as Zac already said, thank you for sharing your techniques and methods.

Thank you very much, @AngryJazz, @Nigel, and @Willem.

Slowly but surely, the "Walfisch" is entering the home stretch.
Most of the weathering and the assembly of the components is complete.
Photos of the original "Black 2" show it on a very dry and dusty airfield when the photos were taken.
The weathering and dusty coating were mostly done with oil paint. In this case, warm gray, cool gray, and a bit of brown.
Some "Airfield Dust" pigments in the lower tail section.
The rest of the weathering will be done once the model is complete.

Part 2  8)

Currently, I'm still attaching the tension cables on the fuselage and wings, as well as the control cables for the ailerons.
It's a bit easier to work with in this state.

Meanwhile, I'm also putting the finishing touches on the machine guns and the bomb rack before these parts are mounted at the very end.

Loving the weathering so far . Are the curtains decals form the kit ?

Your models are absolutely fantastic, with all those added details. And this one is no exception.

Thank you very much, @Alexis.
Yes, the curtain decals are from the kit.
I applied them to the outside of the windows and painted over them from the inside with white oil paint.
Afterward, I lightly sprayed the windows from the outside with heavily thinned Tamiya Smog to seal the decals and tone down the plastic sheen on the windows.

Tank you Nigel!
That worked quite well?weathering with gray oil paints. But the model must first be sealed with a high-gloss clear coat, because the oil paints ?stick? to the rough matte finish and are very difficult to spread there.

On to the Roland C.IIa as it heads into the home stretch.
The landing gear is attached and the aircraft?s rigging is complete, all cables, eyelets, turnbuckles, etc., are in place.
Before mounting the landing gear, the underside of the Roland was weathered to match the overall look of the top.
First, some "Airfield Dust" pigments were applied, followed by oil paint in Ochre Glaze, Burnt Umber, and Burnt Sienna to create splatters and stains on the underside - applied using the "toothpick/brush technique".

Earlier, the bomb rack - which had been pre-assembled some time ago - was mounted on the underside along with the antenna boom.
Only one bomb is installed - and it is, in fact, suspended from its mount by just the retaining strap.
The remaining three empty retaining straps simply hang loosely downward.
Photos of the real aircraft show that loose retaining straps very often hung curled up against the rack, I wanted to depict that on the model as well.
The antenna boom still needs to be visually adjusted to match the rest of the model - that is, made to look dirty and weathered... but I didn?t feel like doing that last night just after midnight.
It looks like the observer didn?t fully retract the antenna cable .....  ::)

I also have a few recent photos "from above".
As always, the turnbuckles are homemade (0.4 mm brass tubing and 0.09 mm silver-plated copper wire).
The big advantage is that they automatically align themselves in the direction of tension when tightened.
The big downside is that, under a macro lens, they don't look as great as 3D-printed or resin-cast turnbuckles.

Now for the armament, the windshield, the roll bar, and the aileron linkage behind the two radiators ............... .

That looks fantastic Bertl, the weathering worked really well. The aircraft looks suitably grubby and dusty but not at all overdone. Very subtle, very effective.
