On to the Roland C.IIa as it heads into the home stretch.
The landing gear is attached and the aircraft?s rigging is complete, all cables, eyelets, turnbuckles, etc., are in place.
Before mounting the landing gear, the underside of the Roland was weathered to match the overall look of the top.
First, some "Airfield Dust" pigments were applied, followed by oil paint in Ochre Glaze, Burnt Umber, and Burnt Sienna to create splatters and stains on the underside - applied using the "toothpick/brush technique".

Earlier, the bomb rack - which had been pre-assembled some time ago - was mounted on the underside along with the antenna boom.
Only one bomb is installed - and it is, in fact, suspended from its mount by just the retaining strap.
The remaining three empty retaining straps simply hang loosely downward.
Photos of the real aircraft show that loose retaining straps very often hung curled up against the rack, I wanted to depict that on the model as well.
The antenna boom still needs to be visually adjusted to match the rest of the model - that is, made to look dirty and weathered... but I didn?t feel like doing that last night just after midnight.
It looks like the observer didn?t fully retract the antenna cable .....
