Good progress Dennis and getting closer to the cabane showdown.... I spoke with a GWSIG member at Scale ModelWorld who is building this kit and he had trouble with the cabanes. He had to cut the tops off them, and he was glad he was forewarned (by me ;)).

I did a dry fit on the cabanes and came to the same conclusion that they may have to be shortened a little.  That I have found to be a common problem with the WNW kits.  Very easy fix, especially when you have been forewarned.

Life got in the way and the progress on the kit has slowed.  Still could be finished by this weekend.  I will have some progress shots up in the morning.  Tech support is not feeling well, and, oh yea, 43rd anniversary took priority.

Where are the photos? All I can see if your post advising they exist. I'm keen to see them!

Zac,

I have no idea why you cannot see them.  I must be doing something wrong.  I thought everyone could see them as I posted them.  Some advise from someone, please.

Dennis

Dennis adds them to his original post rather than putting them in line. So you need to go back to page 1.

Dennis, it's traditional to add the new photos each time you post rather than editing your first post. This does make it easier for the reader of your thread to keep up (otherwise they have to keep going back to your first post). But you do what you want!

She is looking good btw, a nice clean build that looks very sharp.

Nigel,
Thank you but I do not understand what you mean.  I thought I was to add them to the original post.  I want to add photos in the most acceptable way possible.  Please let me know how to do that.  Thank you so much.

The rigging is under way and the top wing went on without a hitch.  Through the advise of the group, I was prepared for the cabanes.  Final photos in a few days.

Dennis, most people just add new photos to the each new post in the "Under Construction" thread rather than going back to the original post and adding the photos there. So when you posted "Three new photos" you could add the new photos there rather than going back to your first post and adding them there. But it's entirely up to you.

Thank you Nigel,  Tech support says the next photos will follow the process you laid out.  Thank you so much.
The Camel is in the final stages of rigging.  Next day or so.

Looks great, Dennis, and glad the photo posting process got worked out. It makes for some pretty lengthy threads (my Amodel Nieuport thread has about 1,722 pages now, and I've just started the exterior!) but it work well. And I find the new photo/comments sequence keeps things current, and provides a lot of encouragement.

Keep it rolling, and congratulations to you and the long-suffering Tech Support on your 43rd!

November 19, 2023

The kit has reached the stage where I say it is complete.  What I must say, is this was the easiest of the WNW kits I have built.  Only minor fit problems and any problems with the cabanes was headed off by the excellent cautions by the group.  I made sure that all locating holes were cleaned and slightly enlarged.  I snipped about 1/16" from the top of each struct to eliminate any depth problem.  The results was an almost perfect fit.

The rigging is EZ line heavy and I use my method of drilling locating holes to run the rigging in as few pieces as possible.  I do not double the flying lines.

I am pleased with the results and as mentioned earlier, this was my easiest WNW kit.  My scale of choice is 1/72nd but it is fun to build kits that I have no room for.  This gives me the best of both worlds.  I build kits I would never buy for myself but I get the pleasure of building these excellent kits.

Gorgeous, Dennis! The guy you build for must have a bigger collection of your work than you do by now, and I know yours is pretty big :)

And thanks to you and everyone else for the tip on the cabanes. I put a sticky in the box to remind me when I get around to starting my kit.

Dutch,
Thank you.  As far as his collection as big as mine, almost.  I have about 250 models in my collection, he has 21.  HOWEVER, the space his collection must take is probably as close to space my collection takes.  44 years ago I set out to make a large collection and that goal has been accomplished.  (I will send a photo soon.)  I think is one of my reasons for building for others.  I have the pleasure of building and only have to find a space for little green pieces of paper that fit snugly in my wallet.  Sigh.  Everyone has the burdens of life he must bear. :-)

That's a very nice clean build. I'm glad the advice on the cabanes helped and you identified what the problem can be, so hopefully I'll be well prepared for my build.

Thank you Nigel, I thought I was missing something.

Lovely work Dennis!
