BBC Great War Interviews still available
« on: September 16, 2023, 02:31:14 AM »
I think I may have mentioned these before, but I was hunting through BBC archives and found that these are still available so worth a post in case some of our newer members may not be aware of them.

Apologies if you cannot get the BBC iPlayer in your area but they may also be available on YouTube

Back in the 60s, the Beeb got a number of Great War veterans into the studios to record their memories of the conflict. These included airmen such as Cecil Lewis and Norman MacMillan. Some of these were added to the iPlayer in 2014 to commemorate the centenary of the war - and they are still available now.

My favourite is Cecil Lewis - a very youthful 60 year-old, who reportedly arrived in a sports car and ended up taking one of the young lady interviewers out for dinner after the filming!!

Anyway, if you don't know this - enjoy!
